Terex Utilities is a truck equipment final stage manufacturer of digger derricks, aerial devices and associated equipment for the utility industry , municipals, telecommunications, tree and electrical contractor markets.
This position will be assigned to the Strategic Sourcing Implementation Team located in Watertown, South Dakota.
The Design Engineer will be working in a team environment with other members to establish efficient methods and processes, assist with new or improved components and product designs; review, verify and validate designs/drawings and update work instructions and bills of material associated with implementing new suppliers/parts directly related to the Terex Strategic Sourcing Initiative.
The Design Engineer is responsible for facilitating engineering principals and applications in a manufacturing environment, maintaining and designing current products, and/or assisting with new product design.
Complete Engineering Change Notice (ECN) for release to document control
Interfaces with R&D for key product supplier formulating test plans/executing test plans
Assign and conduct drawing changes and updates
Create technical specifications to support new and existing products to facilitate product assembly
Review technical documentation for accuracy
Design parts and assemblies as designated.
Work with production team members to understand and resolve problems
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
One or more years' relevant experience that includes comprehension of technical writing, and blue print reading (experience gained as part of the degree curriculum may be considered)
Knowledgeable in 3D design software, flow, and workings. (Solidworks)
Demonstrated knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and tools; and new product development design cycle
Fluent with current Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software
Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems theory and design
Strong knowledge of welding process and welding application
Understanding of Lean principles
Leader in problem solving, root cause analysis, and create solutions to improve products or design
Basic understanding of Finite Engineering Analysis (FEA) and how it applies to design of weldments
Knowledge of controller application and workings, project management
