Terex Corporation Design Engineer - Strategic Sourcing Implementation Team in Watertown, South Dakota

Overview:

Terex Utilities is a truck equipment final stage manufacturer of digger derricks, aerial devices and associated equipment for the utility industry , municipals, telecommunications, tree and electrical contractor markets.

This position will be assigned to the Strategic Sourcing Implementation Team located in Watertown, South Dakota.

The Design Engineer will be working in a team environment with other members to establish efficient methods and processes, assist with new or improved components and product designs; review, verify and validate designs/drawings and update work instructions and bills of material associated with implementing new suppliers/parts directly related to the Terex Strategic Sourcing Initiative.

Responsibilities:

The Design Engineer is responsible for facilitating engineering principals and applications in a manufacturing environment, maintaining and designing current products, and/or assisting with new product design.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete Engineering Change Notice (ECN) for release to document control

  • Interfaces with R&D for key product supplier formulating test plans/executing test plans

  • Assign and conduct drawing changes and updates

  • Create technical specifications to support new and existing products to facilitate product assembly

  • Review technical documentation for accuracy

  • Design parts and assemblies as designated.

  • Work with production team members to understand and resolve problems

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline

  • One or more years' relevant experience that includes comprehension of technical writing, and blue print reading (experience gained as part of the degree curriculum may be considered)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in 3D design software, flow, and workings. (Solidworks)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and tools; and new product development design cycle

  • Fluent with current Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems theory and design

  • Strong knowledge of welding process and welding application

  • Understanding of Lean principles

  • Leader in problem solving, root cause analysis, and create solutions to improve products or design

  • Basic understanding of Finite Engineering Analysis (FEA) and how it applies to design of weldments

  • Knowledge of controller application and workings, project management
