Overview:

Genie Industries is a $2 billion (revenue) division of Terex Corporation. Genie, based in Redmond, WA, has approximately 4500 team members spread throughout the globe, though Redmond is the primary location, with 3000+ team members across the corporate campus.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and Scope:

Supervise a staff material distribution personnel dedicated to receiving, put-away, picking, inventory control and delivery (all elements of distribution). Ensure that these activities are performed in a manner that supports Lean principals and the Terex Operating System. Instructs and trains personnel to perform work assignments efficiently and safely. Supervise warehouse staff so that all production operations are supported, receiving of raw materials and MRO items are efficiently performed and all material distribution is processed accurately and timely. Organize the storage of raw materials and work in process within the warehouse so that it is safe, neat and free from damage. Support and administer all company procedures and policies. Maintain employee work history files and time attendance records. Maintains good employee relations through counseling and proper application of employee relations policies

Essential Functions:

• Ensure that all activities are performed safely. Identify and report any unsafe conditions or acts to appropriate personnel and the Materials Manager.

• Review daily the condition of all material handling equipment verifying that they are safe to operate. Review monthly any preventative maintenance for material handling equipment and schedule appropriately.

• Perform a daily walk through of the warehouse and line side inventory verifying solid material flow and all materials are safely and neatly stored. Assess the cleanliness of the warehouse and take appropriate measures to resolve any issues.

• Supervise and provide support, direction, and coaching to assigned staff in the areas of training, problem resolution, planning, work assignment delegation, performance management and development.

• Staffing responsibilities including selection and review of Team Members performance. Trains new Team Members. Communicates company philosophies and policies, teaches and demonstrates work routines. Maintains Team Member work history files including attendance and performance data.

• Oversee department operations with on-going focus on continuous improvement, cost containment, process analysis and compliance to Making Material Flow, Lean and TOS philosophies.

• Focus on creating a lean culture by participating in and supporting all lean workshops and TIP events, 5S, standard work, maintaining documented processes, document changes (PCNs), post standards, monitor performance, create visual systems and perform daily audits.

• Adhere to supervisor standard work. Create and maintain standard work for all positions in Material Distribution. Ensure that assigned staff is trained and compliant to tasks outlined in standard work.

• Perform a daily walk through of the warehouse and line side inventory verifying solid material flow and all materials are safely and neatly stored. Assess the cleanliness of the warehouse and take appropriate measures to resolve any issues.

• Oversee the cycle count program and physical inventories.

• Work with manager to establish department goals and performance metrics. Visually display up-to- date departmental KPIs, keeping all Team Members informed of their individual and team performance.

• Initiates communications on employee relations matters such as promotions, transfers, attendance, discipline, work conditions, and personal assistance. Resolves Team Member grievances and problems, facilitating solutions or forwarding situations to higher authority.

Ensures compliance to§ established company procedures and policies.

Performs other duties as§ assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or related environment/experience

  • Previous Supervisory/Team Lead experience (3-4 years of experience is highly preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated application of LEAN manufacturing principles (5S, standard work, waste elimination, etc.).

  • Flexible, with strong teamwork orientation.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience coaching and training others.

  • Strong math skills.

  • Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.

  • Strong orientation toward QUALITY and HEALTH/SAFETY/ENVIRONMENTAL (HSE).

  • Ability to work well under pressure.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement change.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement continuous improvement and proficient at leading a team through the kaizen cycle.

  • Excellent attendance record and a willingness to work a flexible schedule.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

  • Experience with project management.

  • Demonstrated servant leadership characteristics in all facets of effectively leading a team.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form with all levels within the organization.

  • Proven facilitation skills of groups ranging in size of four (4) to twenty (20), including a proficiency in the teaching and presentation of standardized training materials.

  • Welding, assembly and machine operating skills are a plus

  • Knowledge and experience with computer based inventory control.

  • Experience with inventory and warehouse space management concepts

  • Experience with material handling equipment highly preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge competence in concepts, principles, and standard practices in Supply Chain Management, Material Handling, Inventory Control
