About the Position

Title: Cloud Architect

Reports to: Steven McGinley (Director Architecture Services)

Shift: Normal

Location: N. Ireland

Relocation: None

Travel: 15%

The Cloud Architect role will report to the Architecture Services Director and will be responsible for providing a robust Terex Infrastructure & Operations service to all Terex locations globally.

At Terex, we are utilizing cutting edge cloud technologies (AWS, GCP etc.) to deliver amazing capabilities and products. We are searching for a cloud architect who can help design, implement, and deploy services on our public cloud platform (AWS) and to help us utilize the platform to deliver innovative products and solutions.

They will also participate or lead ongoing continuous improvement efforts for IT Infrastructure, and global projects as required. Contribute to the design, planning, implementation and documentation of Terex Standards and IT Policies for Infrastructure systems.


  • Drive maturity in the development and management of our core IT Infrastructure and manage the optimisation of key processes related to the use of the systems (on premise and on Cloud).

  • Ensure that effective capacity planning and configuration management is maintained for the infrastructure environment.

  • Be passionate about technology and drive maturity in AWS (Amazon Web Services) operations and migrations.

  • Automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration, continuous monitoring, audit logging, etc

  • Liaise with architects, software engineers, DBA’s to understand and implement new requirements, features and changes

  • Migrate existing databases/servers from on premise to AWS using various tools including but not limited to AWS Data Migration Services and AWS Schema Conversion Tool.

  • Work alongside operations team to identify gaps and deploy global infrastructure projects through to completion

  • Manage the design document process internally, and provide governance for infrastructure design and architecture

  • Provide input to both tactical and strategic business cases and presentations to support the GIOS IT function.

  • Participate and contribute to the annual strategy/roadmap and budgetary review process.

  • Ensure that related documentation and processes are up to date and managed in accordance with Terex IT / Finance policies & procedures.

  • 5 years software engineering or architect experience

  • Understanding of cloud architectures and operations, security, automation and orchestration

  • Experienced designing and deploying applications on AWS

  • Experience migrating applications from traditional data center infrastructures to hybrid or fully-cloud based environments.


  • AWS Certified

  • Experience of migration to AWS or Public Cloud (ie. Google Cloud Platform GCP) for Server infrastructure.

  • Experience understanding protocols, such as, SSL/TLS, CIFS, HTTP/S, DHCP, SMTP, LDAP/S, NFS, SNMP and DNS

  • Project management experience or experience leading projects.

  • Experience in system testing, including documentation.

  • Knowledge of data protection and other related compliance legislation.
